Eagles of Death Metal - I Want You So Hard

My friend and I were talking earlier today about Guitar Hero and different moves we could pull off in front of the screen. I think something like pulling off an excellent power chord to blow someone’s clothes off would be a good one. Jesse ‘the Devil’ is pretty awesome at it, check it out.

New album ‘Death by Sexy’ is in stores now.

For anyone wondering what happened to Craig Kilborn’s career, check him out on the sticks.

Wolfmother - Dimension

Oh man! This song is so hard it makes me want to play Guitar Hero until my fingers bleed.

Ambulance Ltd - New English

I saw these guys about a year ago in Birmingham and it was an amazing show. I got a chance to chat with the guitarist, Benji, for a second and I think he thought I wanted to take him out on a date because I later told him I was getting a drink and wanted to know if he wanted one and he said no, since he was “on the wagon”. Well, cut to an hour later and he was at the bar with a drink and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t kool-aid. But I’m not sure, I guess it could’ve been.

Anywho, the new EP really blows my socks off. Each one of these 7 tunes is a well worthy b-side to the collection. The two demos, ‘Heavy Lifting’ and ‘Sugar Pill’ are also a really nice bonus. I really like how diverse these songs are, yet everything really seems to fit.

‘New English’ is in stores now.

The Charlatans - Blackened Blue Eyes

I love the fact that The Charlatans are so continuously and effortlessly cool. This is the first single off the upcoming album, ‘Simpatico’. I just wish I could get a version without the background dialogue. I mean it’s almost interesting, but stuff like: “Ya seen Jonny?!”, “The Tang brothers? Those chumps? I’m here”, and “I’m gonna get a backhoe and uproot dat tree. I wanna know where da gold at” just kinda take away from the song.

‘Simpatico’ is out April 18.

p.s. This is the last post for a few days but the sounds will be back in about a week.

Delays - Valentine

If you haven’t seen Delays before you heard them you’d probably think this band had both a guy and a girl on lead vocals. Lead singer Greg Gilbert really pulls the fluctuating voice thing off though, but that’s probably cause this sounds a lot like the theme song to Neverending Story; word. New album ‘You See Colours’ is out now.

The Vines - Gross Out

Check out the video to ‘Gross Out’, the first single off The Vines third album, ‘Vision Valley’. This Nirvana-esque number’s only 1:20 long, but it packs a lot of punch, kinda like Rocky in that movie.

‘Vision Valley’ is in stores on April 10.

Gorillaz - El Manana

Picking up where the video for Feel Good Inc. left off, this fourth single from ‘Demon Days’ takes the direction of the first video down a completely different path - one that’s much darker and kinda confusing. The song has a great chilled out vibe to it, and I’d say you should listen to this song when you’re driving down country roads thinking of inventions. Even if you’re not a fan of the music, the animation will probably blow your mind off.

Richard Ashcroft - Music is Power

Up there with Jarvis Cocker and David Bowie, Ashcroft is one of the coolest dudes in music. If you’re not sure who he is, think Bittersweet Symphony which you’ve probably heard a million times. I’m glad to say the tunes are still up to par on the latest album, ‘Keys to the World’ (out now, as of March 21).

Honestly I’m not a big fan of anyone stressing their political beliefs in their music, which this album has its share of, but this uplifting tune makes up for all of that. It’s like one of those you could leave on repeat all day.

Music News Resurrected

I’m gonna try to bring some life back to the music news, but I’m not big on words so I’ll probably just post awesome audios and videos accompanied by my random thoughts, along with some free downloads and stuff like that.

The Stone Roses Resurrected

Despite talks that hugely popular 90’s British pop scene The Stone Roses would reuinite, looks like all rumors are as good as flat after a recent talk I had with lead singer Ian Brown over our blackberries. Even still, Ian and Mani appeared on stage together at Glastonbury this week playing old fav’s ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ and ‘Waterfall’ among a few others.

Oh well, you can still reminisce with this classic vid to ‘Fools Gold’.

Some day, I swear, I’ve gotta walk through the desert with some friends like we just own the place.

Razorlight - Golden Touch

If, like me, you’re a fan of cool, take out a few minutes to listen to this one rad tune by Razorlight. Comparisons to The Strokes might seem obvious but are a little played out in my opinion. The sounds are similar, but song structure and harmony really make these lads from London stand out.

The Walkmen - Little House of Savages

The Walkmen, best known for that Saturn commercial probably, are getting increasingly popular among little chiefs and critics alike. This 5-man-band out of NYC has a very cool vintage sound, mostly attributed to their analog style instruments and recordings.

Lead singer Hamilton Leithauser looks a lot like comedian Dane Cook. Just thought I’d point that out cause Dane Cook is frickin hilarious a lot of the time.

Sophomore album ‘Bows + Arrows’ is in stores now, playah.

I wonder how many arrows it would take to take me down.

Do Me Bad Things - Move In Stereo

Everything about this video is wrong. Everything. The lead singer is like someone you’d have gone to middle school with who had no skills (who I’m convinced is related to John Basedow), and the rest of the band is comprised of a mix of Megadeath groupies, a dude who looks like he teaches kids tennis and Pam Grier. Ok, I hate it, right? Well, then, why is this video so f’ckin righteous!?

See for yourself, I can’t really explain it.

Single ‘Move In Stereo’ is out June 21.
