In time for Halloween, here’s a video tutorial showing how to make gruesome gashes made out of bubblegum. Finally, a good use for bubblegum.

There’s a new image resizing technology out there that blows my mind. It’s called seam carving. Here’s a working web tool that lets you give seam carving a try (via Photojojo). I can’t stress how unbelievable it is. Did I mention it’s amazing? Probably the biggest innovation in digital photo retouching in years. I can’t be the only one who wants a Photoshop plugin for this.
These carnie pics are incredible. (Via A Welsh View)

I just upgraded this site to the latest version of WordPress, 2.3. So far, I really like it. Coolest new feature: tags. Now, I just need to add them to my templates.
I’ve been using MapMyRun to map my running route and log my time and distance.
A journalist asks a simple question that stumps a congressperson. This video is worth watching even though it’s incredibly awkward.
To continue a Wes Anderson theme, here’s an article about the director (via Kottke). These articles are always too eccentric for my taste, but the part about Wes taking the crossword puzzle felt just like one of his movies. Of course, I hate it when they always bash on The Life Aquatic. I loved that movie. The article did have great photography though:

There’s lots of rumblings (via Battelle) about Google working on a social network. On one hand, MySpace really does suck, but does anyone really want another social network?
Wes Anderson plans to promote his new movie The Darjeeling Limited by releasing a free 13 minute internet prequel entitled Hotel Chevalier. (Via Kottke) Apparently being a Wes Anderson flick wasn’t a big enough hook for the 13 minute short, so he threw in an extended nude scene with Natalie Portman. Honestly, The Darjeeling Limited looks weird, and I’m a huge Wes Anderson fan.
Leslie Patricelli, the author of Binky, has several other books that look interesting including Yummy YUCKY and The Birthday Box. (Via Parent Dish)
Here’s a prototype for an arcade game where you sit on a broom and fly around. Sounds cool, but the picture freaks me out.
Make your own playdough (Via Lifehacker). There’s an episode of Teletubbies that shows kids making playdough. It always looked like fun to me.
