It’s good to know that our goverment is protecting us so well.
From Boing Boing:
Agents from the US bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearm agents detained a “suspicious individual” on a Georgia college campus — a guy dressed up in a ninja costume, on his way to a pirate vs. ninja party on campus.
First, I have to say that something like this would never have happened to a pirate.
RedandBlack.com quotes the guy:
“It was surreal,” Ransom said. “I was jogging from Wesley to Snelling when I heard someone yell ‘freeze.’” Ransom said he thought a friend was playing a joke before he realized officers had guns drawn and pointed at him.
Is our country going to hell in a hand basket because of right-wing fundamentalists or what? The agents later released the would be ninja once they realized that he hadn’t broken any laws.
There’s so many good quotes here like:
“Seeing someone with something across the face, from a federal standpoint — that’s not right,” McLemore said, explaining why agents believed something to be amiss.

That is so sad…but strangely funny. When do we get to have a ninja vs. pirate party?

You are a Ninja Assasin. I say out with you!

That’s it! I want to host a ninja vs pirate party.
Honestly Blake, when I was a kid, I had this great trick where I could turn a normal t-shirt into a ninja mask. I think I need to post a tutorial.
These days though, I’m much more of a pirate.

Hey!
I used to do the same thing with my T-shirt!
Use the T-shirt “head hole” as the Ninja mask “eye hole” stretching the sleeves behind the heard where they are tied!
Man, I thought that was the coolest. In fact I used this get up in a home video I submitted for the amazing race TV show. That video of me dressed like a ninja got us to the final round of interviews. Clearly those interviewing for the amazing race are NOT federal agents!

The pirate was most likely more dangerous. The US Navy was created to fight pirates.
Do you think Japanese security officials would have reacted the same way??

And, in fact, they were Muslim terrorist pirates.
The pirates were responsible for capturing large numbers of Christians who were sold into slavery.
Pirates are much more dangerous.
