When the OS costs more than a computer… It costs way too much. According to Download Squad, Windows Vista Ultimate will fit that bill.
[W]ith a price tag around $450 … that’s about as much as a budget Dell system will cost you.
Personally, I think the most ANY piece of mass market software should cost is $99. Anything more expensive should at least double as a defense against a zombie horde.

Dont forget that most people will have to upgrade their system hardware in order to run it with all options turned on.
I think MS and Sony teamed up this year to have a contest to see how expensive they can make things. The sad part is that there are plenty of people out there just itching to waste their money.

Nicholas, that’s a fair thing to say, especially since the mass market version of Windows Vista, Home Basic, is slated to cost $75-100 as an upgrade. That’s not so bad, right?
Ultimate is for super-power users, and should not be judged on price, since practically no one needs it.
